We proudly support our staff when fundraising for a great cause and Kathryn’s challenge in 2017 is no exception.
Having run several 5k’s over the years with Race For Life Kathryn decided to carry out three 10k’s in three weekends in 2016 and decided to push further in 2017!
The first one on her list was the Virgin Sport British 10k run around the streets of London on 9th July. “I’d always wanted to run around the great sights of London in The British 10k and had been meaning to book it for ages when a great opportunity to work with the Royal Marsden raising money and support came up and I jumped at the chance. It promised to be an extremely hot summers day and it didn’t disappoint putting a dent on my hoped for 1 hour course time! Lining up on Piccadilly outside The Iconic Ritz was amazing and I was so excited to run past all the brilliant sights of London, I love taking part in charity events when everyone comes together for something they are passionate about, I always feel super emotional!”
Having had family members and friends affected by Cancer and a friend currently being treated at The Marsden in Sutton it was perfect for Kathryn. It was whilst running the course past Piccadilly Circus, across Westminster Bridge and seeing the sights of London like Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament that Kathryn decided not to stop there and signed up for a half Tough Mudder that she will complete in September and the Beckenham Half Marathon that she will do in October continuing to raise vital money for The Royal Marsden.
